Orphanages

Orphans to Ambassadors is currently making three small orphanages around the world more sustainable.   Each of our projects focus on different aspects of renewable technologies because of their environmental context, resource needs and access to supplies.

No More Tears  (Kamakwie, Sierra Leone)

No More Tears Orphanage struggles to sustain the basic needs for 45 kids and an additional 86 orphans in foster care with the community.  Alleviating the extreme hardships local orphans face means meeting minimal living requirements, providing education and medical care.  Established in 2006, No More Tears is a fully functional orphanage located in a region of Sierra Leone hit hard by the West African Conflicts in Liberia and Sierra Leone.  Currently, No More Tears relies on donations from aid organizations and churches to address their orphanage’s needs.

Nazareti Center (Ngara, Tanzania)

After our project in June 2011, the Nazareti Center now has a major rainwater harvesting system- collecting and storing almost 60,000 liters- and high efficiency stoves that have cut their wood costs- and chopping labor- in half!   Besides they have a small-scale garden, several fruit trees and a few cows which helps manage the food costs for 28 boys.   Their next goal is a Girl’s Center helping stem the terrible hygiene and abuse facing so many young girls in western Tanzania.  O2A is excited to help such a caring and well-ran organization expand its work for orphans.

Save Poor Children in Asia Organization (S.C.A.O) (Phnom Penh, Cambodia)

SCAO is fighting poverty and promoting responsible citizenship for it’s children.  The O2A project began in March 2011 and focuses on heating and lighting solutions for the orphanage in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
